JUSTIN HYDE
Justin has been interested in supply chain since his first real
business class back in high school. The world of supply chain
intrigued him because he felt there are a lot of opportunities
within the field and he could work with almost any industry he
wanted. His specialties in supply chain include MRP scheduling,
forecasting models, Logistics, purchasing and sourcing
contracts, and project management.
While in school one of Justin's main projects dealt with
manufacturing strategy, sales and operations plan, master
production scheduling, and forecasting. Justin and his team were
responsible for the production of five main product lines that
were made up of 75 different component parts. For the first four
products they came up with a forecasting model based on the
historical demand and then adjusted it based on several
environmental factors. The final product was a new product that
was being launched. The forecast for this product was based on
market research and several environmental factors. Finally, for
the project Justin and his team were responsible for efficiency
and quality of the products. They had to make decisions on
whether to buy new equipment, upgrade current equipment, or just
fix and repair the current equipment. In the end Justin and his
team had the best quality, efficiency, and ROI of all the other
teams doing the project.
Another project that Justin worked on was a practicum with Bank
of America (BAC). He and his team helped BAC with a sourcing
problem that they had. The bank and its subsidiary, Columbia
Management, were in conflict over certain suppliers and who is
responsible for sourcing that supplier. They wanted a clear
definition for all of their supplier on who is responsible for
sourcing it. Justin and his team worked closely with BAC
officials to solve this matter. The tasks they were assigned
included managing lists of over 7000 suppliers, researching
rules and regulations surrounding suppliers to banks, writing
the formal definition with the bank, and finally locating
potential savings opportunities for the bank. In the end the
project helped increase the efficiency of the bank because there
was no longer any conflict about who was responsible and also
helped the bank locate areas to save money.
Justin graduated from NC State in 2009 with a BS
in Business Administration with a concentration in Supply Chain
and Operations Management. When not at work Justin loves to play
disk golf, go fishing, camping, hiking, being outdoors in
general, or just taking a nice relaxing walk around the park
